About this Event
ADDRESSING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN INDIAN COUNTRY & HEALING THE HEALERS
Join us in person to tackle the tough topic of domestic violence in Indian Country. This event is all about understanding, support, and finding ways to heal for both survivors and those who help them. Connect, learn, and be part of a powerful community making a difference. Don’t miss out on this chance to support and nurture healing the healers!
Day 1 we will share about the innovative work being done with Iipay Nation of Santa Ysabel's Yachesh Pashow Advocacy Program in partnership with Acorns to Oak Trees to address the far reach and less often understood impacts of domestic violence on children and families and the ways their program is changing lives. We will learn from Dr. Art Martinez about the impacts of domestic violence on the individual, family, and tribal community as a whole. We will also look at ways to improve community and judicial responses to DV in tribal communities and how to support the family through comprehensive programming and case planning at various levels.
Day 2 will be all about healing the healers! We will be offering traditional healing and somatic practices to address burnout, vicarious trauma, and compassion fatigue that inevitbly comes with this heart work that we do. Think of this day as a reset button for your nervous system as we immerse ourselves into a day of guided wellness activities to help refresh your mind, body, and spirit.
